Kulaks

  • Kulaks are wealthy peasants that were known to own farms and livestock.
  • Kulaks would hire labour workers and lease out land.
  • Known to lend money, provide morgage, and were major figures in peasant villages.


Collectivism and how it affects Kulaks

  • Soviet Communism is bettter known as Collectivism.
  • Kulaks were forced to give up their privately owned farms to agriculture organizations.
  • When communism swept over the kulaks, the poor peasants had equal shares of land, status, and livestock that the kulaks had worked so hard to aquire.

How Is This a Parallel

  • Napoleon told the Hens they were to give their eggs away to him.
  • The Hens rebelled and stated the eggs were rightfully theirs.
  • The Hens would go up on the highest perch and lay their eggs so they would drop and break in rebellion.
  • The Hens rebelled just like the kulaks did and Napoleon and Stalin both sentenced them to death by starvation.
  • Many kulaks died as well as in animal farm, nine hens died.
